KITCHEN AREA
The kitchen before renovations:
The kitchen upon the completion of renovation work:
The kitchen is an open space in this home, unlike that of most Asian houses. We cultivate a hospitality that is characterised by openness and ongoing conversations as we work and eat together. Guests are as welcome to linger around the kitchen area as they are to linger in the dining and the conversation areas.
A small stretch of open shelving to exhibit some beautiful ornaments that decorate this portion of the kitchen, as it is also a part of where guests often linger when visiting our house.

The tall cupboards are the pantry where all our dry food is stored. The cabinet drawers are where all the bigger cooking equipment such as pots and pans, fryers and blenders, are kept.
|
Exhibits on these open shelves include a couple of traditional chopping boards made of pure olive wood acquired from Jerusalem, a traditional iron weighing scale we acquired from the island of Patmos (Greece), and three framed hand-painted tiles that we got from Iznik (a town in Turkey formerly known as Nicaea, from where we got our Nicene Creed). This town specialises in this craft of tile painting.
A later addition of a unique antique seven-way brass candelabrum standing on the top of the refridgerator.
|
This seven-way brass candelabrum reminds us of God's perfect work in our lives. 7 represents God's perfection.
|
A wooden beam at the threshold of the kitchen clad by three iron strips to remind us that this household is held by the love and grace of the Holy Trinity.
