EXTERNAL VIEW
This house was built in the year 1991, and after over 25 years continued to be in its original state. It had never been repaired or maintained thoroughly, let alone renovated. Paradoxically, the original state in which it remained for the past over two decades was what convinced us to buy it. Its bones were still intact, and since we had every intention of renovating the house there was in fact no point purchasing a house that had already been renovated before (and might have been sold to us at a higher price because of that prior renovation which we wouldn't have wanted anyway). |
The backyard was also an open space without any shelter. The paint on the wall was most likely the original coat of paint from the time the house was built. Why was this house never maintained? Because its original owner never lived in the house himself. The house was only let out (i.e. rented) to other people in order to yield income from his investment in the purchase of the house. Therefore, repairs, if any, were kept to an extreme minimum. Despite that, the house was never in very bad shape. Everything that was coming apart in the house was merely superficial and the house required only cosmetic repairs. |
